Community Beta Key Giveaways

Giveaways for everyone! That sums up pretty much yesterday in Wildstar. Community websites across the globe got a chance to give away beta keys to their visitors. This is the first time Wildstar fans can get a chance to test the game before release, without being picked by Carbine’s random number generator. We are very honored to be among the websites given the opportunity to make their visitors happy. Just in case you want to increase your chance of getting a beta key you can apply for it in various ways on different fansites. Here is the list of all websites giving out keys separated by region (and as seen on the official website for the USA, for the EU, for German fans and for French fans).
Wildstar Beta Key Giveaway

Although holiday season is behind us there is no reason not to give gifts and boy do we have some gifts for Wildstar fans. Thanks to great help from NCSoft and Carbine we are able to give away 15 Wildstar Beta keys that will grant you access to the ongoing beta of the game. This will give you the opportunity to see and test the game months before it is released. In addition to this main prize we decided to also give away a couple of Wildstar items we got during gaming conventions. This includes a size XXL hoodie with Wildstar logo on the back, Wildstar T-Shirt with a Granok on the front and a Wildstar mouse pad. Use the widget bellow to enter into the giveaway raffle.
WildStar Guild Basics
One of the most important features in every MMO – guilds, has standard options we’ve seen so far in other MMO games and a few new, interesting ones. In WildStar, every moment spent playing with your guildmates means a lot to you and your fellow guildies.
How to create a guild in WildStar?
Ask a guard in your capital city about Guild Services and he will show you location of a guild management NPC on the city map. Prepare 10g and bring no one but yourself when you are level 12, because that’s all you need to register your guild. And some design affinity, since you have to create your guild emblem using one background and one foreground icon, found on two long lists. If you change your mind about the look of your guild emblem, you can always change it later for a small sum of influence (more about this later). You can also change names of three starting guild ranks (leader, council and member) while creating a guild.

Guild basic functions
- Guild bank – unlock and rename guild vault tabs where you can deposit and withdraw items, deposit gold, set gold withdrawal allowance and repair limit, log tabs with every guild bank action displayed. You start without guild vault tabs so you have to spend influence to unlock the first one.
- Guild Bank Money
- Guild Bank Permissions

- Customizable guild ranks – allow you to create and customize existing guild ranks and their permissions – chat, bank logs, invite, demote, rename guild ranks, etc. Although it says that you can enter 25 characters, max of 16 characters is allowed (it is a typo or a bug).
- Guild tax – optional 5% tax that applies on every amount of gold looted by every guild member. Your money will get contributed to the guild vault if your guild leader decides to turn this on. For a leveling guild it might be the best to skip this until everyone gets to mid levels.

It is official – Medic and Engineer last two classes
Carbine Studios just released an awesome trailer showcasing all the classes you’ll be able to play once the game launches, including the two unrevealed classes. They are Medic and Engineer! Medic will obviously be a healing class. There is a Dev Speak video released about the medic (more about that in the next news post) and they are ultra high-tech, close range, hybrid healers and damage dealers. They carry these sci-fi looking cannon-guns called Resonators into battle and I am not sure if they fry you until you are healed or heal you until you are fried. Engineer is not there to change your oil and tighten your screws (as the main character in the video trailer so regretably says). They seem to have robot pets that will take care of all your pest problems and more. They seem to be able to have all four robots active at the same time and carry a shotgun type weapon which makes them a mid-range/long-range class with pets (hunter anyone?). I am sure we will find out more about these in the next Carbine class drop, but in the meantime enjoy some screenshots from the trailer and the trailer itself.
- Marauders thought that Nexus will be easy pickings …

- … and Engineers …
- … which resulted in this new look for the marauders.
Esper Dev Speak Video
It is that time of the week – time for another class dev speak. This time Carbine developers go into more detail about Esper, the ranged dps/healer of the game. It also has various crowd control abilities (snares, roots, knockbacks, knosckdowns, subdue, “monitor turn-offs”), buffes and de-buffs and a freakin’ psionic blade that he manifests into existence to kill enemies.
As always, the video has some easter eggs in the disclaimer section and we have ripped out the frames for easy browsing of what the Disclaimer guy had to say (and to find out what he had for dinner that night apparently).
Creating hardcore MMO players through quality content – Interview with Jeremy Gaffney
We’ve been following Wildstar for a while now and we got to speak to some pretty awesome people making the game. There is, however, one defining moment you can have doing this: talking to, how his fans call him, Gaffer, better known as Jeremy Gaffney, Executive Producer of Carbine Studios. Responsible for overseeing the entirety of the game he can tell us everything about it and he usually does. We took our chance during GamesCom to ask him about Wildstar’s business model and C.R.E.D.D., and what effects it might have on the player economy. We talked about end game and raids and sneaked in a couple of community questions about that topic. Finally, we asked if Wildstar is for hardcore gamers and you just have to hear the answer in the video bellow to find out Mr. Gaffney’s thoughts about that.
We’d like to thank Mr. Gaffney for taking the time to talk to us and answering some community questions along the way.
You can expect a full transcript of this interview very soon.
