As you progress further into the game your Scan Bot will gain access to new abilities to help you out as well. During your missions you will come across some old Eldan technology (Eldans were an old race that lived on planet before Dominoins and Exiles) that will give you more information how they lived, what they did, and why they left planet nexus. Just don’t be surprised when that plant that you try to scan emerges turns out to be a huge monster that decides you would make a tasty meal.
You will run into a bunch of puzzles that, when solved, will often lead to a secret room. Scientists will also find that they gain more xp than other characters for finding the data cubes scattered around Nexus. By leveling your path you will get new abilities, titles, FabKits (items for improving house) and much more.
Scientist missions
ANALYSIS:
Time to put that big brain of yours to work! Whether it’s a bug-eyed monster or the enemy’s databanks, it’s up to you to scan it.
ARCHEOLOGY:
The Eldan left behind a whole planet full of awesome. So start scanning those relics, robots, and radical machines!
BIOLOGY:
Nexus is home to the craziest critters this side of the Fringe! You and your trusty scanbot better get crackin’.
BOTANY:
Studying plants on Nexus is cool. Especially when those plants are trying to chew your face off. Stopping to smell the flowers? Not recommended.
CATALOG:
Knowledge is power. Which is good, because Nexus has a lot of knowledge that needs to be collected and catalogued. Time to power up!
CHEMISTRY:
Nexus is full of exotic materials and alien compounds just waiting to be studied. Are some of them ridiculously dangerous? No doubt about it.
DIAGNOSTICS:
You’re a scientist, and that means you can fix stuff. Whether it’s a broken leg or a busted bot, you’ll diagnose the problem and take care of it.
FIELD STUDY:
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of hostile alien lifeforms? You do. Study behavior patterns among the natives. And try not to get killed.

Will scanning ever have any impact on the rest of the game? For instance, scanning a monster to find out its weakness, or attack set. Reading the layout of a zone to pass off points of interest to your friends of various paths, or even just noting who is in the area (and possibly in need of assistance.)
Maybe I’m just not getting the point of the Achiever Bartle type. But the power of knowledge seems like such a great tool to enable and interact with the other players, as well as the terrain in meaningful ways. If Scientists had access to data that was more than just more detailed tooltips about Lore, that alone would make this path infinitely more flavorful.
im really stoked on this path, lore and finding out things has always been my forte in gaming.
Through my playing I have noticed there are times when scanning will get you buffs, like scanning eggs got me a buff that made me neutral to the enemies in the area, or scanning tornadoes gave a buff to jump higher. Other times there are things to scan that will deal damage, like pollen on the ground that explodes or totems that summon lightning strikes in the area around it.
