Updated Lore Maps and Skill Calculator

Ever since Wildstar launched we have been adding content to Wildstar Life and we tried improving already existing interfaces. I wanted to let you know about a few bigger changes that we made recently.

amp-updateWe finally updated our Wildstar Skill calculator with AMPs! This means that you can now pick your AMP distribution along with your skill distribution to get a proper Wildstar build and share it with the world. Remember that all data in tooltips is based on base values for Assault and Support power being 300 (this means that it will most likely differ from what you see in game because your character has different assault/support power values). We’ve also added some overall improvements to the skill calculator so you can see the builds people voted for the most for your class and we’ve added prerequisites you need to meet in order for that build to be viable. There is more work to be done, but we wanted to include our AMP update asap and we’ll focus on other features in the coming days.

Second update is more of a bug fix. Our Lore map database with map locations of all Datacubes, Journals and Tales had several bugs that plagued it. Our factions were all messed up and some maps had a problem because they showed the wrong map. We have now fixed these problems and we’ve included multiple maps per zone if that zone has major sub-zones (Farside is the prime example of this).

We’ve added hundreds of new screenshots and locations for path missions and Datacubes/Journals/Tales and we are constantly tweaking quests and item databases. We hope all these improvements will make Wildstar Life a more enjoyable experience for all of you Nexus adventurers out there.

Adventuring through Wildstar – Galeras

Welcome to the first installment of, what we hope will become, a series of articles about adventuring through Nexus. I am thoroughly playing the game without skipping a single quest or location and I will be sharing what I hope are interesting adventures found in various zones. First up is Galeras, level 14-21 zone for Exile players located just outside the main city Thayd. Zone will take you through all sorts of quests and introduce you to the first adventure and group dungeon for your faction. While questing through the zone I came across a secluded part of the map that can be reached only via a “hidden path”. There is a quest mob that can be summoned there that drops an item that starts a quest “A Vengeful Elemental“. The biggest advantage of getting to this place and killing the mob are primary weapons that are rewards for completing this quest. These weapons are:

As you can see, all of the quest reward weapons have an Omni rune slot and Imbuement tasks. These tasks will unlock bonus stats for your weapon once completed. All tasks are part of the Stormtalon dungeon and killing bosses inside it. Once you complete all the imbuements you get what is probably the best in slot item for that level range (I kept it all the way up to level 26).

A Vengeful Elemental (Exile)

Description

You have extracted the core from the Vengeful Elemental. Perhaps it can be refined.

Notes

This quest is kind of hidden in Galeras. You have to take a hidden path up a hill and you will find a totem there that, once interacted with, summons a wind elemental. Once you kill the elemental (100k HP so bring some friends or be at least lvl 19+) it will drop a Vengeful Elemental Core, item that starts this quest. Just go back to the totem that summoned the elemental to finish the quest and get great weapons (each class gets its own version) that have imbuement bonuses to them. Each imbuement level requires you to defeat one of the bosses in the Stormtalon instance. Together with the omni rune slot these are some of the best weapons you can have at that level.

Note: There’s a nearby scientist mission that helps you unlock a “Mysterious Exo Lab”, which contains a datacube.

A Vengeful Elemental 4493 Follow the hidden path up a mountain.
A Vengeful Elemental 4494 There’s a broken bridge you can double jump across.
A Vengeful Elemental 4495 At the end of the path you will come across the Thundercall Staff that summons the wind elemental once you interact with it
A Vengeful Elemental 4499 Kill the summoned Vengeful Elemental
A Vengeful Elemental 4500 It drops a quest item that starts this quest

Completion

Return the Vengeful Elemental Core to the Thundercall Staff

A Vengeful Elemental 4496 Go back to the Thundercall Staff and interact with it

Wildstar Costumes Gallery

Wildstar allows a lot of customization in every aspect of the game. You can customize your house, mount, and even fortresses, but one customization most players sooner or later delve into is character customization. This is accomplished by equipping costume items through styles vendor. Style vendors are located in major cities and various other locations throughout Nexus. When you interact with the NPC it lets you equip a costume item into its appropriate slot and looks of that costume item will overwrite whatever item you are wearing in that slot (you keep the stats – only looks change). You are allowed to even equip items that are not costumes and have their looks show, but special costume items are the most fun. Here’s a list with screenshots of most of the available costumes in the game right now.

Raidin’ Costume Set

This costume set randomly drops from Boomboxes that people that beta tested the game got as reward for their testing efforts (and making Wildstar a better game). These items are currently the most expensive items you can find in the auction house. Their price ranges from 1-10 platinum, which is higher even than C.R.E.D.D. packages. When you look at the screenshot bellow it becomes apparent why this is the most sought after costume set in Wildstar at the moment.

We are ready for Launch … to Nexus

wildstar-vs-tutty

Aion: Tower of Eternity was the first MMROPG database we made on MMORPG Life. Almost five years passed since then and both us as people and MMORPG Life as project have changed significantly. We are now only a few minutes away before everyone will be able to enjoy Wildstar and start exploring Nexus and I can’t help but wonder how come I am yet again excited to be playing a new MMO.

I’ve played many MMOs in the meantime, and some I was very passionate about. Unfortunately, most of them failed me entirely (as a gamer) or were thoroughly disappointing. Whether it was that my expectations were high, or the companies that were making those games had the wrong thing on their minds or, in some cases, companies just didn’t know how to make good games – I just don’t know. What I know for sure is that I started losing faith that I will ever again be excited about a game launch.

Lore Collectibles Database

datacube journal tales map We are proud to announce that we have made available our Wildstar Datacrons, Journals and Tales database. Wildstar is part of a newly created universe and there are several ways that developers at Carbine decided to tell us their story of Nexus. Among others there is a lore library whose sections you unlock by gathering three types of collectibles – Datacrons, Journals and Tales from Beyond the Fringe. Datacrons are audio logs that give a lot of background information from the Elden, Journals are written records from various sources and Tales (or TFBTF) are comic books that you need to collect all pages of to unlock a single Tale comic.

All these collectibles are scattered around each of the zones in Wildstar. They are not marked on the map, but once you get close to them you will probably be able to see them marked on the ground.

For those collectionists and lore buffs among you this will be one of the aspects of Wildstar you will surely want to explore. To help you in your exploration we have created a database of all collectibles in all zones. We listed all the zones we have information for on this page. If you click on most of the zones listed there you will see a page with a map and all collectibles we have locations for marked on that map (like on this page for example). You can filter the markers by type and if you click on the map marker you will be taken to a screenshot guide page for that particular collectible. Bellow the map you will find a list of all collectibles that can be found on that map. You can click on the Show on Map link to mark that particular collectible on the map above. Our single collectible guides include written walkthroughs for collectible locations and in most cases screenshots to help you pinpoint exact locations of each datacube, journal or tale (you can check out one such page here). You can also read the Lore text that is shown in the game once you find that lore piece. This can prove helpful for lore buffs that want to read up on different aspects of the back story of Nexus while not in the game.

We hope you find our Lore database and map tools useful and we will strive to enter every single collectible that we are missing right now.

Our research here has been enlightening. By harnessing the power of loftite crystals, this tower has created a violent storm. The sheer power unleashed has exceeded our expectations, indicating that we will reach the final stage of the Project.
