On top of a tall rock plateau, next to Merciless Mek, close to a large animal rib bones, The Blasted Wasteland. There is a secret rock (on a plateau north of map marked datacube location) you can use to reveal a path that leads to the datacube.

Although I cannot deny a certain fear about the process itself, it is greatly outweighed by the anticipation of what might follow.
